[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he pop-rock sensation Neon Trees is currently on a US tour “just because we want to,” as lead vocalist Tyler Glenn proclaimed to a room of enthusiastic onlookers at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio. … And we’re glad they are.

Hailing from Provo, Utah, Neon Trees consists of four primary members: Tyler Glenn (lead vocals; keyboard), Christopher Allen (guitar), Branden Campbell (bass), and Elaine Bradley (drums) as well as several touring members.

Neon Trees took to the stage as a crowd very diverse in age cheered them on. Opening with their latest non-album single, “Songs I Can’t Listen To,” the audience knew they were in for a show stopping set. Other songs such as their pop hits “Animals,” “Everybody Talks,” “Sleeping With a Friend” and a high-energy cover of Dexys Midnight Runners’ “Come On Eileen” also made the setlist.

Neon Trees proved to be one of the highest energy performances currently on tour. Lead vocalist Glenn has the talent of being able to captivate an audience through a killer combination of strong vocals, dance moves and crowd interaction.

The aptly named “An Intimate Night Out with Neon Trees” tour kept the crowd on their feet from start to finish. It is undeniable that all of the band members are talented and extremely passionate about the music that they perform.

Joining Neon Trees on this US tour are rock bands The Fictionist and Coin who compliment the headliner’s spirit by bringing their own energy to the table.

Attendees of “An Intimate Night Out” Columbus left the Newport with a renewed pep in their step and memories of a night they won’t soon forget.
