[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ondaland Records, created by singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe, and Epic Records have announced the launch of their landmark joint venture partnership.

Monáe shared her excitement about the new partnership by saying:

“I’m so thrilled to share Wondaland Records with the world. Each artist under Wondaland Records has unparalleled talent, incredible vision, and brings something unique to the music industry. Together, we’re creating a new movement and space for the future of music and pop culture.”

Wondaland Art Society was founded by Monáe along with some like-minded young artists, in 2001. The lineup of artists on the record label includes: Jidenna, Roman GianArthur, Deep Cotton, and St. Beauty all of whom write and produce their music.

Since her debut album in 2010, Monáe’s music has gotten her six Grammy Award nominations. She is known best for her creative artistry and unique style of R&B music.  Some of her hit singles include Tightrope, Q.U.E.E.N featuring soulstress Erykah Badu, and she was also featured on the popular track We are Young by the band fun.

The first single released from the new partnership is a hip-hop dance track called Classic Man by Jidenna featuring Roman GianArthur. The song will be used as the lead track for Wondaland Records compilation EP set to arrive in May. The compilation titled, The Eephus, will also contain the new single Yoga by Janelle Monáe featuring Jidenna.

With this new partnership, Monáe has become one of the few black women who runs her own independent record label in conjunction with a major record label. It’s without a doubt, that this venture will bring creative and innovative songs to the music scene.
