[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Grand Rapids Griffins have been held pointless for the first time in four straight games under Jeff Blashill, as they dropped their latest home contest against the Chicago Wolves, 4-2

The Griffins got on the board first as Kevin Porter received a pass from Mark Zengerle, threw a wrist shot at Jordan Binnington, and beat him glove side, and gave the Griffins their lone lead of the day.

59 seconds later, Wolves forward Shane Harper took advantage of a Griffins turnover by tying the game up off a pass from Terry Broadhurst and beating Jared Coreau to end the first period knotted up at one.

The Wolves quickly took a two goal lead in the early stages of the 2nd period. Forward Pat Cannone tipped in a shot from the point from Brent Regner just 2:14 into the 2nd. Less than two minutes later, Ty Rattie joined in on the Wolves’ fun on the power play by firing a shot past Coreau to give Chicago a 3-1, 2nd period lead.

Captain Jeff Hoggan cut the lead in half as he netted a rebound goal halfway through the 2nd period, but it wasn’t enough to get the Griffins back in the game.

The Griffins will continue their pre all star game home stand Friday night as All Star game hosts Utica comes to town and Saturday against Iowa.
