[dropcap]R[/dropcap]edBedlam announced the cast for the main roles in its recent release Bedlam, a first-person shooter which debuted PC and Mac Aug. 8.
Kirsty Strain plays protagonist Heather Quinn, a.k.a. Athena, while Robert Florence voices Ross Baker, nicknamed Bedlam.
Strain’s character is a programmer at Neurosphere, a developer of medical scanning equipment. She finds herself thrust into the world of Starfire, a (fictional) 90’s FPS she played as a teenager. In order to find a way out and answer how she got here, Athena must traverse game worlds tracing the evolution of the FPS and video games in general.
Strain and Florence were cast members on the BBC sketch comedy show Burnistoun. Florence has worked on online video games shows Videogaiden and Consolevania.
Christopher Brookmyer, author of the sci-fi novel on which the game is based, is delighted to have Strain and Florence attached to the game.
“I’m a huge fan of Burnistoun, and I particularly admired Kirsty and Robert’s ability to bring so many different comic characters to life,” he said. ““I thought they’d be the perfect voice casting to distinguish our game in a genre that tends to take itself way too seriously.”
Players can find the game on Steam for $19.99.
