Lana Del Rey performed at the Masonic Temple on Thursday night as a part of her first and highly-anticipated North American tour.

The stage was adorned with palm trees and candelabras in true hippie fashion, and the singer was dressed to match, wearing a mid-length, loose-fitting white dress with long lace sleeves that featured a flower-like design.

Del Rey began her 14-song, 75 minute set with “Cola,” a song from her revamped debut album, “Born to Die: Paradise Edition,” which was released about a year and a half ago. The crowd erupted in a mixture of screams and sang along as the singer-songwriter first appeared on stage, and the excitement only intensified as the night went on. “Wow. What an amazing sight to see after it took so long for us to get here,” she said, admiring the crowd after her first song.

Although the crowd itself was highly energetic, Del Rey was calm and relaxed the entire time. There was no choreography to her show whatsoever, but the crowd went crazy whenever she would sway her hips or dip down low on stage.

Perhaps what was most exciting to some was when Del Rey began singing “Blue Jeans,” a hit song from her debut album “Born to Die,” that came out about two and a half years ago. The song quickly turned into a sing-a-long, followed by the singer herself going out into the crowd for the first time to both talk to and take selfies with a few lucky fans in the front row. This happened periodically throughout her set and was a wonderful way for her to connect with her fans, at least the ones who braved the cold to wait all day for that front row spot on the floor.

Early on in her set, Del Rey sang “West Coast,” the first single off of her new album “Ultraviolence,” set to be released on June 16. Following “West Coast” were some of her other hits from previous albums such as, “Million Dollar Man,” “Born to Die,” and “Radio,” all of which were enough to make the audience feel as though they were hanging out at a lounge in the 1960s due to the retro, hippie vibe that both the singer herself and the songs portray.

Del Rey ended her show with a bang as she sang “National Anthem,” and instead of being like almost every other artist and coming back on for an encore, she went out into the crowd during a long outro to the song and showed her fans some love one last time. She exuded confidence, while being humbled at the same time due to the extremely positive reaction from the crowd throughout her entire performance.

Lana Del Rey’s North American Tour was a long-awaited tour for fans that is sure to have left a long-lasting impression.
