Workaholics gang separates for “Friendship Anniversary” (spoiler alert)

Review of this week's episode of Workaholics - WARNING: SPOILERS...

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his week’s episode of Workaholics is quite different from anything else you have seen so far in season 4. Instead of witnessing the usual shenanigans of the crew: Anders, Blake, and Adam you see first-hand what it is like when the three roomies separate and go on their own separate paths. The Workaholics trio has always conquered every obstacle, endeavor, and mishap together so some crazy stuff begins to unfold with their separation in “Friendship Anniversary”.

Throughout the history of Workaholics it has become apparent the boys enjoy some wacky types of competition. So it’s no surprise the 13th episode starts with Anders, Adam, and Blake embarking on a Gladiator themed obstacle course. As the level of intensity starts to grow within the match; Anders receives the roommates’ lease from the mailmen, and each member of the household begins to think (for whatever reason) that they’re common law married because they have been living together for seven years.

The gang decides to celebrate the signing of their seven years of solidarity with a fancy dinner full of weird moments: for example, Blake give Adam a present being his weight belt with macaroni glued on it to say ‘Blake’s favorite tight butthole’. What is it with Blake and buttholes? I’m still trying to figure that one out.

Unfortunately, the dinner begins to take a downward turn as the gang gets into a random argument which leads to a full-fledged food fight all over the entire house. The name calling and disagreement leads to each character storming out of the house, and leaving the boys to find a place to crash for the night.

As the gang returns to work the next morning, they all come to the agreement they should tear up the lease, move out, and split up the security deposit. Which just about broke my heart. After work, the trio returned to the household to find an infestation of rats among the entire household. After the shocking occurrence, the characters realized they wouldn’t get their security deposit back; so they decide to solve the problem by killing each rat with baseball bats, hockey sticks, etc., but, of course, taking a minute to do the hustle. I’m not making this stuff up. If you don’t believe me, watch it for yourself on Comedy Central.

The gross escapade leads to the characters mending their friendships, and possibly contracting rabies.

It was saddening to see the crew split up in “Friendship Anniversary”. It makes you realize they’re a great team together, even if it is through their own quirky ventures. Although this episode takes a sad turn, it still contains that original Workaholics humor that we all know and love from start to finish.
