[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ans have been waiting for new material from Linkin Park for almost two years. Well people are in for a treat, because Linkin Park announced their new album “The Hunting Party,” due out June 17th. This will mark the sixth studio album for the band after 2012’s release, “Living Things.”
What can fans expect from this album?
Guitarist Brad Delson says the first single, “Guilty All the Same (featuring Rakim),” is going to “set the tone for what’s to come on the album as a whole.”
It should also be mentioned that it will feature “a lot of guitar solos” and that it’s “the album we would have made had we not made Hybrid Theory.”
The album is supposed to be a more guitar driven album, with Delson stating “It definitely goes down a different path, and it is guitar driven — that’s not an accident.”
The album is just another step in the never ending evolution of Linkin Park. “The heaviness of the track[Guilty All the Same], and of what you’ll hear on other songs on the album, comes from a raw, visceral place, but it sounds distinctly its own as far as our musical history,” Delson says.
It seems like the band isn’t too worried about radio play with this album. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park says “…we need everybody to know what they’re working with. Which is to say that some of it’s going to be a bit of a challenge. This is going to be a hard sell for rock radio, I knew that going in.”
Linkin Park will be hitting the road this summer as part of the “Carnivores” tour, featuring 30 Seconds to Mars and AFI. The tour kicks off on August 8 in West Palm Beach, FL.
