The Devil Wears Prada was at Royal Oak Music Theatre on Saturday, November 2nd  with The Ghost Inside, Volumes, and Texas in July.  This was the first show of their 8:18 tour which is in support of their new album “8:18,” released earlier this year.

The band started things off with perhaps one of their heaviest songs “Gloom.” This song has no clean vocals and was a sure fire way to get the crowd into it right off the bat.

Singer Mike Hranica was donning a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey during this song, which as everyone knows Detroit Red Wings fans do not like the Penguins one bit.

Without missing a beat, the band jumped right into the song “Escape” which is from the bands critically acclaimed “Zombie EP.”  Right as the song kicks in, perhaps one of the biggest circle pits of the night breaks out. The night was not lacking in moshing and by any means. The energy that the crowd was giving, The Devil Wears Prada was giving back 10 times more.

The third song of the night was “Assistant to the Regional Manager” and singer Mike Hranica who is known for becoming a mad man on stage was definitely living up to what people expected out of him.

After a good handful of heavy songs, the band decided to slow things down with the song “Care More” from the new album. This song featured the Hranica playing the keyboard. The harmony in this song where Mike and guitarist Jeremy DePoyster do a scream and clean vocal combo was pulled off exceptionally well.

When the band finished performing this song, they decided to bring the energy back and played the first single from the album “8:18” which was “Martyrs.” The stage setup featured many strobe lights, light towers that would move the lights in all directions and the famous TDWP logo that can be seen on the album art for “8:18.”

The last song the band performed before heading to the back was a staple in any setlist for The Devil Wears Prada.  Right after Hranica sang those four famous words to any TDWP fan, “I know a ghost” the crowd proceeded to give it their all.

Fans were belting out every lyric and singing their hearts out. As soon as the song ended, the band headed to the back and the “One more song!!” chants began to echo throughout the whole venue. Needless to say, the fans were not let down.  The band answered their calls and came out to perform not one, but two more songs for them.

The first of these two songs was the title track from the album “Dead Throne.” When the band came back on, a banner was hanging in the background that said “Dead Throne.”

The most crowdsurfing of the night without a doubt occurred during this song. “Mammoth” was the last song of the night. Both the fans and TDWP wanted to go out with a bang. Everyone was giving it their all, and the energy could be felt coming out of everyone. After the song had finished, all the members of The Devil Wears Prada showed their thanks and received an incredibly warm round of applause.

One of the most interesting things of the night happened once 4 out of 6 members had gone to their dressing rooms. Hranica, and drummer Daniel Williams proceeded to sit on the edge of the stage and talk to fans on a personal level and do their best to shake everyones hand who reached out to them.  This goes to show how down to earth the band is and how they truly care about and love their fans. Once the fans had started to trickle away, Mike and Daniel headed to the back after a more than successful concert.
