So I’ve already done a couple of articles listing great spots to catch live music in different cities around the country; and I thought  to myself instead of doing one last piece naming places you can probably just google, why not find out what our readers have experienced?

I love going out to places in new cities and catching a show wherever I go. I’ve seem some great shows and some crappy ones. I’ve seen fights, excessive drinking, drug use, band members collapsing and bouncers tossing (literally) people out of their clubs. Gotta love the world of rock music! I’ve been pushed, punched and kicked. I’ve had booze spilled on me and even had my share of fun with groupies and fan girls. The experiences come with the environment, but in the end it was all about the music. Whether it was good or bad I always had a great time because I found myself in a place where like-minded people are coming together for a common experience. And even if you think about it from the bands perspective it’s a wonderful thing. You are there, getting paid to do what you love to do! And there are hundreds or even thousands of people there coming to hear and enjoy the music YOU created! I’ve been playing music for years and that fact will never cease to amaze me. Playing shows and going to see shows is such an incredible experience that you really cannot fully grasp through a grainy iPhone video of a concert with bad audio. Yes, I am calling out THOSE people at concerts. Put the phones away and enjoy the show you paid for! Why the heck would you want to see the concert through a 3 inch screen? Seriously people?! Not to mention how annoying it is to the person behind you.

But I digress, going to shows is something I love to do and do as often as I can. I may not be as well traveled as other people, but I gone to plenty of other cities and heard what their music scene has to offer. One of my favorite experiences was the time a saw Mark Tremonti kill it in NYC on his first solo tour. There were a couple of opening acts who were great as well. The audience loved it and went wild. Drinks were flowing but nobody really got too out of hand. It was great. So I ask you all to share your experiences at live shows. What was your favorite band to see live? Where were you and who were you with? What was it like? I, as well as all my colleagues at The Pit,  want to hear what you all have to say!
