There was perhaps no band the captured the crowd’s attention like that of Stone Sour at Rock on the Range. With a handful of other popular bands getting strong reactions from the crowd in one way or another, Corey Taylor and the boys virtually demanded it with their stage presence.

Stone Sour opened their set with “Gone Sovereign” and segued perfectly into “Absolute Zero” much like they do on the album House of Gold and Bones Part 1.

Taylor and the band played hits such as “Get Inside,” “Bother” and “Through Glass.” Between “Bother” and “Through Glass,” Taylor asked the fans to put their hands together and clap. The result was a sea of people doing as they were told as Stone Sour jumped into their 2006 hit from Come (What)ever May.

The 45-minute set ended with their first track off the aforementioned album, “30-30/150.” Stone Sour left the stage to thunderous applause with many speculating an encore. The Smashing Pumpkins took the momentum left by the Iowa-based Stone Sour and ran with it for their set to end the night.

Stone Sour was one of the better acts of the weekend, second only to Alice in Chains. 9.5/10
